Solingen's Haus G to Demolish in Style: 'Take-Away Hospital' Event Promotes Circular Economy
Städtisches Klinikum Solingen's Haus G is set for demolition, but not before one last event. From October 10 to 11, the 'Hospital to Take Away' will open its doors, inviting locals to collect usable items for free. This initiative aligns with the FAB.Region project, promoting the circular economy and reducing waste.
The demolition of Haus G is planned with sustainability in mind. Companies bidding for the project had to show how they would handle the material cycle. Heermann Umwelt GmbH won the bid, committing to a demolition process that could achieve the DGNB Gold standard. After the mobile parts are removed, demolition companies will 'gut' the building, with materials either resold, recycled, or reused in production.
The 'Take-Away Hospital' project aims to demonstrate the practicality of the circular economy in construction. Citizens, associations, and institutions can take away usable equipment like furniture, doors, and kitchen modules. A donation to the clinic's support association is requested.
The demolition of Haus G at Städtisches Klinikum Solingen is scheduled for October 10 and 11, with the 'Hospital to Take Away' event preceding it. This project not only clears the way for new development but also promotes sustainability and resource conservation, showcasing the potential of the circular economy in construction.
