Singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell Returns to Chart Success with Multiple Singles

There are a few tunes from Joni Mitchell's collection that individuals often link with Christmas, even though they don't specifically mention the holiday. She's penned numerous well-liked tracks that are ideal for the winter season, and for numerous people, that makes them seasonal tunes.

Two of Mitchell's winter-themed tracks are making a splash in the UK charts this week. This is a significant moment for these tracks, as they're currently more popular than possibly at any other time throughout the year.

"River" is the more successful of Mitchell's two returns in the UK. It's the only one of her songs that manages to simultaneously appear on multiple charts.

Mitchell's sentimental tune about skating on a frozen river is making the biggest impact, returning to the Official Singles Downloads chart at No. 93. The title also re-enters the Official Singles Sales list, but only just, landing at No. 99 on the 100-position list.

"Both Sides Now" also makes a comeback, although it's not traditionally associated with Christmas, except for its use in the beloved holiday film Love, Actually. That single, which might be Mitchell's most famous, returns to the Official Singles Downloads chart at No. 99, in second-to-last place.

Between these two hits, "Both Sides Now" has managed to climb the highest, at least among the charts it's currently appearing on. Throughout the numerous entries it's had on the Official Singles Downloads chart, the tune has peaked at No. 7, making it the only top 10 hit among the bunch.

The success of these two tracks also seems to be giving a boost to one of Mitchell's compilation albums. Her simply-titled Hits also returns to the Official Album Downloads chart, reappearing at No. 77.

Her song "Both Sides Now" has a notable chart history in the UK, peaking at No. 7 on the Official Singles Downloads chart.
