In the bustling city of Concord, California, a new chapter in transportation is about to be written. The autonomous shuttle service, named PRESTO, is set to commence operations in the Rossmoor Walnut Creek, a vibrant community for active senior citizens.

Operating from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, the electric, autonomous shuttles will provide a safe and reliable service, with a trained safety attendant on board. Each shuttle can carry up to seven seated and secured passengers.

The shuttles will operate on a predetermined route in the Rossmoor community, running Oxa's self-driving software product, Oxa Driver. This marks the first time Oxa Driver is being deployed in the United States, on the West Coast, in collaboration with Beep, Inc.

The development of autonomous vehicles is not confined to Concord alone. Uber Technologies, Inc. and Cruise are partnering to bring Cruise autonomous vehicles to the Uber platform, with the plan to launch the partnership next year.

Researchers from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have issued a set of best practices for future evaluations of highly automated vehicles, known as the Retrospective Automated Vehicle Evaluation (RAVE) checklist. This initiative underscores the industry's commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of autonomous vehicles.

To ensure smooth operations, a 3D digital twin model is created for the fixed routes, their environments, and each autonomous vehicle in the fleet. This model accurately reflects the operational design domain.

The virtual command center for autonomous vehicle fleets leverages XR technologies, including Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR). This innovative approach allows for comprehensive monitoring of AV fleets, simulation, testing, and staff training.

In a significant development, Olis Robotics is launching the world's most comprehensive remote diagnostics solution for industrial automation cells at IMTS 2024 in Chicago. This solution provides comprehensive situational awareness, enabling remote, immediate, and effective responses to various scenarios.

Moreover, Olis' new capabilities now extend the power of Olis to entire industrial cells from the PLC to the fingertips of the robotic gripper, including conveyors and other hardware. The solution also offers video and telemetry-based diagnostics for industrial cells, enabling technicians to diagnose the root cause of downtime events, such as a robot failure.

The autonomous mobility network is being managed by Beep, while STRADVISION has launched 'Labelit,' a data labeling tool for advanced recognition technologies in driving and parking applications.

Finally, Lotus Technology Inc.'s intelligent driving arm, Lotus Robotics, has provided end-to-end intelligent driving solutions to Farizon Auto, a global leading automaker in the new energy commercial vehicle sector.

The autonomous shuttle service in Concord, California, is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various companies and researchers, aiming to bring safer and smarter transportation solutions to communities across the globe.
