Redirection in Severinusstraße Encountered
In the heart of Hürth-Hermülheim, an exciting urban development project is underway. The "Lebensader Lux" project, part of a larger initiative to enhance the area, aims to make Luxemburger Straße more attractive and livable.
The project, which received funding from the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building, as well as from the NRW State Ministry for Home Affairs, Local Government, Building and Digitalization, will see significant changes in the coming months.
Residents can look forward to improvements in both heating and connectivity. For district heating, applications for free connections can be made by contacting 02233 / 53-600 or visiting fernwaermevertriebswunsere websitede. Similarly, for fiber optic connections, residents can apply by contacting 0221 /2222 5544 (NetCologne) or glasfaserswunsere websitede.
One of the key aspects of the project is the creation of a traffic-calmed zone between Bonnstraße in the south and Horbeller Straße in the north. This zone will feature ample greenery and high-quality dwellings, making it a more pleasant and inviting space for residents and visitors alike.
During the construction period, traffic direction in Severinusstraße will be reversed, and entry to Severinusstraße will be possible via Weidengasse and exit via Fritz-Räcke-Straße, leading back to Weidengasse via "Im Schetteling". Two-way traffic is possible between Bonnstraße and AOK-Straße, but single-lane entry to the construction site between 18:00 and 09:00 will continue to apply in the area from Horbeller Straße to AOK-Straße.
The old canal will be taken out of operation due to the new supply lines, and two roundabouts at Bonnstraße and Horbeller Straße will be built afterwards. Additionally, a new pipeline will connect wastewater from the two tributaries of the Bonnstraße to the canal in Severinusstraße via the shaft structure.
The urban development project "Lebensader Lux" is expected to be completed and reopened to traffic in early 2027. Furthermore, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) will provide additional funding of 171,600 euros for the planned cycle street.
