Here's an exclusive inside scoop for you:
Essen/Leipzig, 19 June 2025: The construction development in the residential quarter "Parkstadt Leipzig" is well underway. Recently, Instone Real Estate ("Instone") and the housing association WBG Kontakt e.G. ("WBG Kontakt") celebrated the construction progress for three new multi-family homes with a total of 59 residential units and symbolically buried a time capsule. With this move, WBG Kontakt continues its devotion to Parkstadt Leipzig; in spring 2024, the cooperative purchased 23 subsidized apartments in three city homes. Around the same time, they acquired three additional multi-family homes as part of a forward deal. Two of these buildings are already in the rough construction stage, and the Third one will soon follow suit. All three new buildings are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
"We're glad to keep our fruitful collaboration with WBG Kontakt alive. As partners, we share a high-quality standard and the common goal of building sustainable neighborhoods with promising futures," says Saidah Bojens, Branch Manager Berlin and Saxony of Instone Real Estate Development GmbH. "Expanding WBG Kontakt's housing stock in Parkstadt to 82 apartments will be a crucial step towards social diversity in the vicinity - a goal that we support vehemently."
With this latest acquisition, WBG Kontakt will provide barrier-free housing with modern layouts that cater to current living needs. These 59 apartments come with 2-4 bedrooms, spanning 44-95 m2, accessible elevators, and either ground-floor terraces or upper-floor balconies. Approximately 50% of the apartments will be offered at a regulated rent, ensuring that they'll be available for households with housing entitlement certificates - an important measure for securing affordable housing in an attractive location. Moreover, 23 parking spaces have been procured in a neighboring garage, which might be allocated to individual apartments as needed.
"We're expanding our cooperative portfolio at Parkstadt Leipzig, a location with remarkable potential for a bright future," says Jörg Keim, Chairman of the Board of WBG Kontakt e.G. "Parkstadt Leipzig combines the best of city and country - nestled amidst verdant meadows, forests, and fields near the Markkleeberger See, we're constructing a naturnah living quarter with short distances. A traffic-calmed neighborhood structure, play and leisure facilities, a supermarket within walking distance, a kindergarten, and excellent connections to Leipzig City center make the living environment particularly attractive for families. Renewing our partnership with Instone is based on a dependable relationship and a shared conviction to create sustainable housing horizons for Leipzig residents."
By 2027, a modern, traffic-calmed residential area with approximately 600 apartments will rise from the former Park Hospital site in the Döhlitz-Dösen district. Around 350 units in historic buildings will be restored, while 250 apartments will be built in 18 new environmentally-friendly buildings according to KfW Efficiency House 55 standard - a move to reduce CO2 emissions and keep ancillary costs for future residents at a minimum. The district will be further adorned with a daycare center, play areas, 550 parking spots, and a local merchant. Over 1,000 trees will ensure a lush, sustainable environment, enhancing the quality of life for residents.
