OGDCL's Major Gas Condensate Discovery in Khairpur Offers Hope for Pakistan's Energy Crisis
OGDCL has made a significant discovery of gas condensate in Khairpur, Sindh. The find, in the Sembar Formation, holds substantial quantities of hydrocarbons, offering a potential solution to the country's energy crisis.
The well, drilled to a depth of 3,800 meters, has shown promising results. Two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) in the Lower Goru Formation confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in significant quantities. The combined production potential is an impressive 22.5 MMSCFD of gas and 690 barrels of condensate per day.
OGDCL, with a 95% working interest, has partnered with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) for this project. GHPL holds a 5% working interest. This discovery will not only add to OGDCL's hydrocarbon reserves but also contribute to the country's reserves base.
The discovery in Khairpur, Sindh, is a significant step towards overcoming the energy crisis. It will help bridge the gap between energy supply and demand through indigenous resources. OGDCL and its partner, GHPL, are optimistic about the potential of this find.
