OctoberCV applications sought by USBAW
In the heart of the Philippines, the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor, along with the highly urbanized cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and Mandaue, form the Central Visayas region. On a significant day, October 4, 2025, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Central Visayas took a decisive step, issuing two new wage orders that would impact the lives of many workers in the region.
The first order, Wage Order ROVII-26, was designed to address the minimum wage for employees in the private sector across the region. The order differentiates between Class A cities and municipalities and those that are not classified as such. For the former, the new minimum wage stands at P540 per day. On the other hand, employees in the private sector in cities and municipalities not classified as Class A will receive a minimum wage of P500 per day.
The second order, Wage Order ROVII-DW-05, focuses on the minimum wage for domestic workers in the Central Visayas region. This order brings about a substantial increase, with domestic workers now receiving a minimum wage of up to P7,000 per month.
These changes were implemented as part of a daily minimum wage increase of P37 to P47, depending on the area classification, aiming to improve the livelihoods of workers in the region. The new wage orders are expected to have a positive impact on the economy of Central Visayas, as workers will have more disposable income to spend in local businesses.
These developments underscore the RTWPB's commitment to ensuring fair wages and promoting productivity in the Central Visayas region. As the region continues to grow and develop, the implementation of these wage orders is a significant step towards a more equitable and prosperous future for its workforce.
