Nighttime shutdowns are scheduled for the Wambel tunnel in Dortmund
The B236 Wambel Tunnel in Dortmund will be closed in both directions on September 11, 2025, for semi-annual maintenance of the tunnel technology. This closure will be managed by the Street.NRW Regional Branch Ruhr and will impact traffic flow in the Dortmund area.
From 8 p.m. on September 11 to 5 a.m. on September 12, only one lane will be available for traffic in both directions. During this time, the B236 Wambel Tunnel will be completely closed, and the exit from the B1 to the B236 in the direction of Lünen will not be possible.
The A45 motorway, which branches off to the B236 towards Lünen, will require a diversion for additional maintenance in September. Detours will be signposted during the maintenance period.
The closure is expected to last for a period of 9 hours and will affect traffic on the B236 in Dortmund. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra travel time.
Street.NRW will provide timely information about the late September maintenance. For more information about tunnel safety, visit: https://www.strassen.nrw.de/de/tunnelbau-und-tunnelsicherheit.html
Additional restrictions are expected in late September for further maintenance. Motorists are encouraged to stay updated on the latest traffic information to ensure a smooth journey.
