New hybrid buses from Transdev UK appear on Flyer Airport Network, comprising a fleet of 15 vehicles.

Transdev, a leading public transportation service provider, has introduced a new fleet of FLYER hybrid buses serving Leeds Bradford Airport. The fleet, valued at £3.5 million, is part of a larger £100 million expansion of the airport's terminal building.

The new buses, manufactured by Mercedes-Benz, are equipped with the most efficient Euro VI engines and feature hybrid technology, which is expected to reduce fuel consumption by up to 8.5%, contributing to a decrease in total CO2 emissions.

## Increased Capacity

Each bus in the new fleet can accommodate 70 passengers, a 29% increase from the previous diesel-powered buses, which had a capacity of 54 passengers. The seating capacity has been increased to 39 seats, with an additional 31 standing passengers able to board.

## Environmental Impact

The new FLYER hybrid buses are classified as ultra-low emission vehicles, implying a significant reduction in harmful emissions compared to traditional diesel buses. The buses are also equipped with an electric motor that generates energy when coasting and braking, which is then used to assist the engine when pulling away.

## Advanced Safety Features

The buses incorporate advanced safety systems such as electronic assistance for maneuvering, traffic sign monitoring, and Acceleration Skid Control, which significantly cuts stopping distances in an emergency.

The hybrid storage module, using 48-volt technology, is located at the back of the roof and is virtually maintenance-free. The new buses entered service on three dedicated routes linking Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, and Otley with the Airport, with journeys running up to every 30 minutes and departures from early morning until late at night.

The expansion of Leeds Bradford Airport's terminal building has added around 40 percent more space in customer areas, with three new boarding gates, a new immigration area, baggage collection hall, food and drink outlets, and 83 percent more seating.

With these new buses, Transdev aims to improve public transportation services in Yorkshire, offering high-tech, ultra-low emission, and more spacious buses that can cater to the growing demand for efficient and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.

The hybrid storage module installed in the new FLYER buses is part of the advanced technology from Mercedes-Benz, which is also involved in the finance sector, as they have been investing heavily in research and development for environmentally-friendly vehicles.

The significant reduction in harmful emissions from the ultra-low emission FLYER buses is expected to have a positive impact on the overall industry, as the transportation sector moves towards more sustainable and eco-friendly practices, similar to the ongoing changes happening in the finance industry.
