Mötley Crüe Experiences Its Largest Year on a Single Chart in 15 Years' Timeframe

For enthusiasts of Mötley Crüe, 2024 has been an eventful year. The notorious rockers have dished out a series of singles, satisfying their loyal fanbase with an abundance of fresh tunes. The band's latest releases have secured spots on the radio charts, making 2024 their most successful year in this domain in over a decade.

Mötley Crüe's new track "Cancelled" marks its entrance on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart this week at the No. 38 spot. The song's inclusion in the top 40 charts signifies yet another hit for the band on the list of songs that gain the most traction through radio stations specializing in heavy rock genres.

"Cancelled" marks the second time this year that Mötley Crüe has secured a spot on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart of 2024. The song "Dogs of War" debuted in May and peaked at the No. 5 spot that same August, and it now stands as one of the band's eight top 10s, remaining tied as their second-highest-rising song on the airplay list.

This year marks the first time in 16 years that Mötley Crüe has accomplished more than one top hit on the radio charts. The band last managed a double win in 2008, when they also scored a pair of new hits on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

In 2008, both "Saints of Los Angeles" and "Motherfucker of the Year" debuted on the chart. The first soared to the No. 5 spot, maintaining its presence on the tally for 20 weeks. The more explicit track, unfortunately, didn't achieve the same level of success, peaking at No. 29.

"Cancelled" now marks Mötley Crüe's 31st hit on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Though the song gets off to a modest start, it has the potential to climb higher on the charts in the near future.

Both "Dogs of War" and "Cancelled" can be found on Mötley Crüe's latest EP, also titled "Cancelled." The three-track set launched early in October, with "Dogs of War" and "Cancelled" subsequently earning radio play while the third track, a cover of the Beastie Boys' "Fight for Your Right," remains uncharted.

Despite their successful run in 2024, Mötley Crüe's latest tour was sadly cancelled, causing a disappointment among their fans. This cancellation also affected their chart positions, as their sales and radio airplay started to decline. Consequently, their latest single "Cancelled" failed to make it to the Billboard charts. On a positive note, the song was still able to secure a spot on the motley crue radio chart, showcasing their enduring popularity among rock radio stations. Finally, despite the cancellations and setbacks, Mötley Crüe continued to dominate mainstream rock airplay, proving that they remain a force to be reckoned with in the rock music industry.
