The dethroned mayor of Palmer Lake, Colorado, Glant Havenar, has been tagged as a jaw-dropping name-caller, as reported by local media and court documents, branding opponents of the Buc-ee's store annexation as "terrorists" and "bums."

With a shake of the palm, Havenar, who relinquished his post mid-week, traded these insults in text exchanges with a buddy, as per the folk over at 9News. These claims were glued to a court filing by Integrity Matters in their suit against the town in the context of the Buc-ee's project, allegedly relating to the supposed documents' initial sharing in a Signal group chat by Havenar's former ally.

You may have heard of Buc-ee's, the Texas-bred convenience store and fuel station that boasts an astounding 100 gas pumps and a massive 75,000 square feet of shopping bliss in Luling, Texas[3].

Curious about the document? It alleges that Havenar attempted to sway public opinion by creating various social media accounts under pseudonyms to connect with online communities[6].

Moreover, Integrity Matters is pointing the finger at Mayor Havenar for breaching open meetings regulations and using inappropriate terms in discussing executive sessions, according to the tale weaved by 9News.

The Buc-ee's debacle has been simmering in this colorful town for eons. An attempt to petition environmental officers earlier this year was organized as a result of a questionable meeting about the Buc-ee's annexation, local sources indicate[2].

Havenar had this to say to KRDO13 about his resignation: the relentless harassment he faced due to the Buc-ee's stoush was the main driver behind his decision[2]. Additionally, he aimed to counteract further turmoil in the community by staving off a potential recall of his mayoral position[2].

"I didn't fancy petitioners rampaging our neighborhood's tranquility all summer long, scrawling their posters and banners here and there to collect signatures against me," Havenar stated.

When probed about the disclosed text messages, Havenar defended himself by claiming he had been "harassed for ten months"[2]. "There ain't nobody on the face of this planet that wouldn't say something unsavory about folks that have been harassing them," he added[2].

He disagreed with the release of personal text messages, opining it was a questionable move and not all the messages contained the truth[2].

Fox Business communicated with Town Administrator Dawn Collins and the Palmer Lake town office for comment.

The projected location of the Buc-ee's in the locale lies on land near Interstate 25[6]. As of late May, Buc-ee's had over 50 locations nationwide[3].
