MASSEY DYNASTAR Contest Season 2 at TAFE Honors Down-to-Earth Agricultural Innovation
TAFE's Massey DYNASTAR Contest Empowers Rural India's Agricultural Innovation
In August 2025, Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) concluded the second edition of their nationwide Massey DYNASTAR Contest, a competition designed to discover and reward original, scalable, and socially impactful agricultural innovations. The contest, which focuses on grassroots innovation, saw participation from farmers, rural entrepreneurs, and agri-students across India[1][3][4].
The contest received an impressive 16,000-plus entries from 26 states and five Union Territories, showcasing the diversity of India's agricultural ingenuity[1][4][5]. Twelve finalists from seven states were shortlisted, including Assam, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh[1][4][5].
The grand finale of the contest featured a Grand Jury comprising industry veterans. The winner in India was Avinash Desai, an IT professional-turned-farmer from Belgaum, Karnataka. He was awarded the top honor for inventing an innovative mobile slurry dewatering machine powered by the Massey Ferguson DYNATRACK 241 tractor[1][5]. His prize included a brand-new MF 254 DYNASMART 2WD tractor worth about Rs 8.2 lakh[1][5].
The Massey DYNASTAR Contest also had an Institutional Category, where teams from educational institutions showcased their innovative ideas. The Agricultural Engineering College & Research Institute (Tamil Nadu Agricultural University), Kumulur, Trichy, won the first prize for their 8-row tractor-mounted transplanter[1]. The students from the winning Institutional Category teams were offered internship opportunities at TAFE. Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Erode, won the second prize for their automated multi-vegetable transplanter[1].
Prateek Agarwal from Hojai, Assam, won the second prize, an 8gm gold coin, and Amrit Jot Singh from Patiala, Punjab, won the third prize, also an 8gm gold coin[1]. Both the winning innovations from the Institutional Category are designed to work with the Massey Ferguson DYNATRACK 241.
TAFE's Massey DYNASTAR Contest embodies their vision of "Cultivating the World" by supporting agrarian change-makers and aims to nurture agri-entrepreneurship across rural India, with plans to continue and expand the contest in future seasons[1]. The contest, a unique platform that embodies TAFE's vision of Cultivating the World through meaningful engagement, inclusion, and support for agrarian change-makers, was first published on August 11, 2025, at 10:55 IST[1].
