Renault, the French automobile manufacturer, has announced a global recall of 7,889 Renault Koleos SUV models due to a potential risk of fuel leakage and the possibility of a fire caused by an insufficient connection in the fuel hose. The recall affects approximately 2,126 vehicles in Germany, and the remaining affected vehicles are yet to be specified outside of Germany.

The affected Koleos vehicles were produced between September 2009 and September 2023, and the recall pertains only to models equipped with a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. The KBA (Federal Motor Transport Authority) is conducting this recall under reference number 15294R and is contacting all owners of affected Koleos vehicles.

In Germany, 139 cases of fuel leaks in the Koleos vehicles have been reported to the KBA. While no fire incidents have been reported due to the fuel line issue in Koleos vehicles, if fuel leaks onto hot engine parts, it could potentially cause a fire.

To address this issue, owners are asked to take their vehicles to a workshop for inspection and replacement of the fuel line if necessary. The fuel line inspection and replacement process may take up to 4.6 hours. Renault has designated code 0EM1 for this recall action.

It is suspected that an improper connection in the fuel line is the cause of the fuel leak. The Koleos models have been a popular choice among SUV enthusiasts since their introduction, and this recall aims to ensure the safety and reliability of these vehicles.

This news serves as a reminder for all vehicle owners to stay vigilant and maintain their vehicles regularly. For more information about the recall, affected Koleos owners can contact their local Renault dealership or the KBA.
