KhMAO-based oil company files lawsuit against drillers for damaging oil wells

In a recent ruling, the court in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug has sided with oil company Kondaneft, awarding them approximately 4,954,810.11 rubles in damages from subcontractor AO "Technologies OFS". The lawsuit was filed due to a malfunction in equipment provided by Technologies OFS during drilling at the Kondinsky field, resulting in over 65 hours of non-productive time.

The court found AO "Technologies OFS" responsible for the downtime, as the filter that cleaned the solution was installed incorrectly. The faulty equipment included the communication and power module, the pulsator, and other parts responsible for data transmission and process control. These malfunctions led to additional costs amounting to almost five million rubles, which were confirmed by protocols of meetings and incident reports.

Despite the ruling, neither Kondaneft nor Technologies OFS has responded to inquiries sent by our site regarding the case. Technologies OFS, however, denied liability, blaming the breakdown on metal particles in the drilling fluid.

Meanwhile, another lawsuit has been filed by Petroalliance (part of the international holding Schlumberger) against the "Yugra" subsidiary of NNK - "NNK-Varyeganneftegaz". Petroalliance is claiming almost 740 million rubles in damages. The details of this lawsuit are yet to be disclosed.

During the 65.67 hours of repair, teams from other service enterprises were on the field, for which the customer had to pay. The exact costs incurred due to this are not known at this time.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of ensuring the quality and proper installation of equipment in the oil and gas industry, where even minor malfunctions can lead to significant financial losses and operational disruptions.
