Kazakhstan Launches Key New Silk Way Railway, Proposes Eurasian Transport Info Map
Kazakhstan is actively promoting regional cooperation and infrastructure development. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently inaugurated the second line of the Dostyk-Moiynty railway, a key project in the New Silk Way initiative. Meanwhile, Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev has proposed a unified information map of Eurasia to enhance transport infrastructure cooperation.
The Dostyk-Moiynty railway line, launched virtually by President Tokayev, is a significant step in connecting China and Europe. It is part of the New Silk Way, a modern version of the ancient Silk Road, aiming to boost trade and economic growth. The railway line is expected to facilitate the transport of goods between Asia and Europe, reducing transit times and costs.
In addition to this, Minister Sauranbayev has proposed creating a unified information map of Eurasia. This initiative seeks to foster information exchange on future plans and developments among countries on major strategic routes. The proposal underscores the importance of intergovernmental agreements in ensuring stability and protecting investments in logistics projects along East-West and North-South routes. Kazakhstan, having invested around $35 billion in logistics over the past decade and planning to invest an additional $15 billion, is committed to the development of greater Eurasia.
Kazakhstan's efforts to enhance regional connectivity and cooperation are evident in its infrastructure projects and proposals. The Dostyk-Moiynty railway line's launch and the proposal for a unified information map of Eurasia demonstrate the country's dedication to facilitating trade, improving transport infrastructure, and fostering regional development.
