Jill Jacobson Passes Away at 70: Notable Actress Known for 'Falcon Crest'

Jacobson was born in Texas and subsequently graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a B.S. in Radio, TV, and Film Performance, before she migrated to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. Her debut role was in the 1977 slasher horror film Nurse Sherri as a hospital nurse who gets possessed by an evil spirit. Her early guest appearances included the series Harper Valley PTA, The Devlin Connection, and Crazy Like a Fox.

During this period, Jacobson also played Erin Jones, Richard Channing’s (David Selby) assistant on Falcon Crest, and had a recurring role as Larue Wilson in the first-run syndicated comedy The New Gidget.

"Jill's comic timing was outstanding," recalled her The New Gidget co-star, Caryn Richman. "Her infectious energy and zest for life made our time on set a delightful experience." The two remain close friends, reflecting the deep connections Jill made with most people she met.

Further guest roles on Jacobson's resume include Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek:Deep Space Nine, Newhart, Castle, Who's the Boss?, Quantum Leap, Arliss and Murphy Brown. She also made appearances in several TV movies and had a minor role in Ron Howard's 1984 film, Splash.

Outside of acting, Jacobson was an ardent advocate and volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
