International Firefighters Contain Spain's Extremadura Wildfire

A wildfire in Spain's Extremadura province has been contained thanks to the tireless efforts of international firefighters. The German Wildfire Module, based in Aldaenueva del Camino, has played a crucial role in this success.

The module, comprising around 40 personnel and 8 fire trucks, arrived on Tuesday evening. They set up their base of operations on a soccer field in the town. The team worked for approximately 9 hours on Thursday, searching for and extinguishing hotspots on the southwest flank of the wildfire. They also laid out control lines to separate burned areas from unburned ones.

The Spanish crews used tactical fires to prevent further spread of the blaze. Despite the challenging terrain, night deployment was waived. The deployment area for the following day was defined in the morning. On Wednesday, around 20 personnel with 7 fire trucks were dispatched to tackle a nearby wildfire.
