Intensive Search Operations Conducted in the Eastern Part of the City
In the city of Wuppertal, authorities have been conducting a series of joint actions to combat illegal employment, undeclared work, and various related issues.
The partnership for order in Wuppertal, consisting of the Bergisch Veterinary and Food Office, the Foreigners' Authority, and the Jobcenter, has been working together to scrutinise the drug scene, mafia structures, illegal gambling, questionable living conditions, irregularities in the catering industry, and suspicions of illegal employment of foreigners.
During these inspections, officials have been examining proper notifications of social insurance contributions and investigating violations of anti-black market work and illegal employment laws. Potential evidence was secured during these operations, and the results are currently being analysed.
Violations of record-keeping and identification requirements, as well as minimum wage violations, were also topics of examination. Items such as liquids and tobacco were inspected for proper taxation.
These authorities, which include the local police, the customs administration (Generalzolldirektion), and municipal offices such as the public order office, conduct coordinated inspections and controls. Regular controls take place during organized action days, for example, during statewide campaigns where hundreds of officers inspect numerous businesses. Such campaigns in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), including in Wuppertal, occur periodically.
The customs authority plans to strengthen its efforts against black market work and illegal employment. Officers have been inspecting both individuals and pre-designated spaces for several hours. They have also been checking for the possibility of improperly received social benefits.
Regular controls by the relevant authorities take place in Wuppertal. Violations may result in fines, business closures, and imprisonment in repeat cases. The authorities remain committed to maintaining law and order in the city.
