In 2024, Tomich Company and Businesses Paid 4.9 Trillion Rubles in Taxes
Tomsk's Tax Tally Skyrockets by 21% in 2024, Topping ¥4.9 Trillion
Rough Ride to the Bank, Tomsk Style
Yuriy Kurilenko, the head of the Tomsk region's tax inspectorate, has spilled the beans on some impressive tax revenues, all according to RIA Tomsk. Last year, the region swelled its coffers with an astounding ¥4.904 trillion in taxes, a whopping 21% increase over the previous year!
"We nabbed an astonishing ¥4.904 trillion in taxes for the Tomsk region in 2024. That's a 21% leap from the year prior," Kurilenko shared.
Naturally, the lion's share of that dough came from the personal-income tax (NDFL), fetching ¥42.57 billion, a 20% uptick from 2023.Kurilenko attributed this growth mainly to the region's rising average wage and low unemployment rate.
Now, here's the kicker. The profits tax just missed the mark at around ¥7 billion, thanks to oil price volatility. Curiously, that shortfall was partially offset by a hefty NDFL boost, Kurilenko added.
Self-Employed Tomskites Chipped in ¥5.29 Billion in Taxes in 2024
Breakdown of Taxes Collected
Kurilenko chatted to RIA Tomsk about various types of taxes:
A whopping ¥199.8 billion (more than 40% of all income) flowed into the national budgeting system from Tomsk-administered taxpayers in 2024. That's a 13.9% increase, or ¥24.3 billion.
Property taxes accounted for just 2.4% (around ¥2 billion) of the regional budget's total intake in 2024. Compared to 2023, this category saw a 7.3% boost, amounting to ¥136.7 million.
"For instance, we were gifted ¥737 million from personal property taxes (a 9.7% increase of ¥65.4 million), ¥1.052 billion from transportation taxes for individuals (a 5.5% hike of ¥54.9 million), and ¥218 million from land taxes for individuals (an 8.2% rise of ¥16.4 million)," Kurilenko explained.
In the Finance-focused Section
In the 2024 financial year, self-employed individuals in Tomsk contributed a strong ¥5.29 billion in taxes, according to Yuriy Kurilenko, head of the Tomsk region's tax inspectorate. This number represents a substantial 529% increase compared to the previous year.
Kurilenko also pointed out that the strong increased tax revenue had a ripple effect in Tomsk's industry, contributing to a stronger economic standing for businesses in the region.
Despite the increase in personal-income tax revenue, the profits tax, mainly affected by oil price volatility, missed the mark, but its shortfall was partially offset by the surge in self-employed tax payments.
With the influx of ¥5.29 billion in taxes from self-employed individuals, the overall tax tally for the Tomsk region in 2024 reached an impressive ¥4.9 trillion, marking a 21% growth from the previous year.
