Homes powered exclusively by renewable energy sources have recently been established in Dorset
New Sustainable Homes Now Available in Lytchett Matravers
A new development of 20 affordable homes has been completed in Lytchett Matravers, Dorset, providing vital housing for individuals and families priced out of rural areas. The development, located off Purbeck Road, was constructed over the last few months by Stonewater and developer Drew Smith, part of Vistry Partnerships.
The new homes consist of one and two-bedroom apartments, two, three, and four-bedroom houses for social rent, and nine two and three-bedroom houses for shared ownership. Residents are now moving into the development, which was built on unused land owned by Wessex Water.
Stonewater, a housing association involved in building new, sustainable, and affordable homes, was recently accredited for its environmental protection measures. The homes feature energy-efficient designs to reduce bills and carbon emissions, and they will also have provision for electric car charging.
The development includes communal gardens for the apartments and private gardens for the houses. The homes will also have low-carbon heating in the form of air-source heat pumps.
Matt Crucefix, director of Development (South and West) at Stonewater, expressed his pleasure at providing affordable rural housing, particularly in collaboration with Dorset Council and developer Drew Smith. "This development is a great example of how organizations can collaborate to create high-quality, affordable, and environmentally conscious developments," he said.
The completion of the development was announced during the National Housing Federation's Rural Housing Week and Net-Zero week, which took place from 3 July to 7 July. The Purbeck Road development is a significant step towards achieving net-zero emissions and providing sustainable housing solutions in rural areas.
Stonewater manages more than 2,000 homes across Dorset, Bournemouth, and Poole, and understands the need for affordable housing in rural areas like Lytchett Matravers. The organization recently received a gold accreditation for major environmental improvements.
The development was supported by Dorset Council and funding from Homes England, as part of Stonewater's strategic partnership with Guinness. The image provided is of Stonewater.
This development is a testament to the commitment of Stonewater and its partners to provide affordable, sustainable, and high-quality housing in rural areas. As the demand for affordable housing continues to grow, collaborations like this one are essential to ensuring that everyone has access to a safe and comfortable home.
