Göttingen Expands District Heating Network for Green Goals

Göttingen is enhancing its green credentials with a significant expansion of its district heating network at Eichendorffplatz. The project, set to finish on October 10, 2025, also includes modernized street lighting and comprehensive sewer renovation.

EAM Netz GmbH has played a key role, updating street lights and replacing old poles. Meanwhile, badenovaNETZE GmbH and the Offenburger Wasserversorgung are installing new gas and drinking water lines, as the existing ones required modernization.

The project's scope has grown to align with other city infrastructure plans, aiming for long-term cost savings through efficient bundling of measures. This expansion is a crucial step in Göttingen's climate change plan, increasing the supply of renewable heat.

The Eichendorffplatz district heating network expansion, due for completion in late 2025, is not just about heating. It's part of a larger city effort to modernize infrastructure and meet climate change goals, with all involved parties working closely together for efficiency.
