Germany's Rural Areas Top in Multi-Person Households With Children
GfK's Map of the Month for February 2021 has revealed the regional distribution of multiple-person households with children in Germany in 2020. The rural district of Eichstätt tops the list with an impressive 40.9 percent share of households with kids. Following Eichstätt, the rural district of Cloppenburg comes in second with 39.5 percent of households having children. Trailing closely behind is the rural district of Straubing-Bogen, with a 38.6 percent share. These figures highlight a notable trend in Germany's rural areas, where larger families, or households with children, are more common than in urban regions. GfK's map provides valuable insight into the distribution of family sizes across Germany. While the highest proportion of multi-person households with children remains unclear, the top three rural districts indicate a higher prevalence of larger families, or households with kids, in rural areas compared to urban ones.
