Leidos Secures $129.7 Million FBI Contract for Biometric Services Support

In a significant development, Leidos has been chosen to manage a five-and-a-half-year contract worth $129.7 million from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The contract aims to support the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division’s Fingerprint Analysis Support Team (FAST) Biometric Services program [1].

The program is instrumental in the FBI's endeavor to modernize and strengthen its biometric identification capabilities. Leidos has been collaborating with CJIS since 2018, focusing on the development and integration of the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system [2]. This system, a cutting-edge biometric identification tool, is utilized by state, local, federal, and tribal authorities.

The NGI system maintains a vast electronic database integration of biometric and criminal history information. It falls under the FBI's efforts to improve its identification systems and procedures [1][2].

The contract serves as a testament to Leidos' role as a key contributor in advancing federal law enforcement technology infrastructure. This collaboration began in early 2016, marked by Leidos' introduction of agile methodology and development operations to streamline the software build process for CJIS [1].

Leidos' collaborative efforts in the industry-leading technology sector extend to finance, as they continue to develop and integrate the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This cutting-edge biometric identification tool, essential for modernizing and strengthening FBI's identification capabilities, is already being utilized by various authorities.
