Financial advisor accused by Calvin Harris of stealing $22.5 million, allegedly using funds for questionable real estate investments.
John Calvin Harris Accuses Former Financial Advisor Thomas St. John of Fraud in Real Estate Investment
Popular DJ and music producer John Calvin Harris has filed an arbitration demand against his former financial advisor, Thomas St. John, accusing him of stealing over £16.5 million and using the funds to fund a real estate project in Hollywood, California.
The project, named CMNTY Culture Campus, was supposed to include recording studios, artists' lounges, and office space spanning across 460,000 square feet. However, Harris' lawyers have claimed that St. John did not reveal his true intentions or provide adequate information about the investment.
The investment was allegedly broken down into a loan of £7.3 million and an equity investment of £9.16 million in Hollywood LLC, the company managing the project. Harris' lawyers have stated that they are unaware of the whereabouts or use of Harris' investment in the CMNTY Culture Campus project.
The purpose of the project shifted to residential housing in 2024 due to 'shifting market dynamics'. Despite the investment, the development of the project has not started, and the investment did not return any money. The development is expected to have a valuation of over £900 million when completed, according to St. John's attorney, Sasha Frid.
Frid also mentioned that Harris chose private arbitration to assert his discontent with the project's pace. The arbitration demand accuses St. John of sending 'materially misleading' DocuSign forms over to Harris.
In addition to Harris, St. John allegedly sought investments from other entertainers and individuals in early 2021. St. John created Claimant Lewis LLC for Harris to invest £16.5 million into the project. After the investment was made, St. John caused Hollywood LLC to distribute £8.57 million to Dun & Dun LLC, a managing entity he controls.
The role of any co-conspirator in the context of Harris' accusation regarding the CMNTY Culture Campus project is not identified in the provided search results.
In a statement, Frid said that Harris actively pursued the development opportunity and was one of several investors in the project. John Calvin Harris has not commented further on the matter.
Meanwhile, Harris has been announced as the first headliner for Creamfields 2026. The music festival is set to take place in the UK and is one of the largest electronic music festivals in the world.
