EU Backs Ukraine's Defense with $2.3 Billion Drone Purchase

The European Union has allocated $2.3 billion to support Ukraine's military capabilities. This investment, made on Ukraine's Defender's Day, involves purchasing drones and is part of the EU's broader financial assistance to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The funds come from the EU's External Lending Mandate, specifically the European Recovery and Resilience Loans (ERAF) mechanism. This aid is in addition to the $4.6 billion macro-financial assistance tranche previously provided by the EU to Ukraine. The EU has secured these funds by using frozen assets of Russia's Central Bank, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the Russia-Ukraine war.

The EU's investment in drones for Ukraine underscores its continued support for the country's defense and recovery. This aid, totaling $2.3 billion, is a significant boost to Ukraine's battlefield capabilities and sends a strong message of solidarity on Ukraine's Defender's Day.
