E.ON Edis' Largest Battery Storage Facility Coming to Kränzlin, Brandenburg

A new battery storage facility is set to be built in Kränzlin, Brandenburg. The project, the largest in E.ON Edis' network area, will have a capacity of 60 megawatts and 240 megawatt-hours. It will offer various services, including FCR, aFRR, and mFRR, and be black-start capable, providing fast frequency response.

The facility, developed by RE.Venture, will cover approximately 1.5 hectares and feature a modular design. This allows for potential expansion up to 480 megawatt-hours of capacity. Preparations for the project are underway, with construction slated to commence in 2026 and conclude in 2027.

The municipality of Kränzlin is anticipated to reap financial benefits from the project, although the legal basis for these benefits is yet to be established.

The battery storage facility in Kränzlin is expected to bolster the region's power grid resilience and stability. Its completion in 2027 will mark a significant milestone in E.ON Edis' grid area, providing crucial services and contributing to the municipality's financial growth.
