Downtown Loveland now boasts newly installed crosswalks, aiming to enhance pedestrian security and road safety.

In the heart of Loveland, Colorado, a significant project is underway to improve pedestrian safety and connectivity in a high-traffic area. The project, part of the City's Heart Improvement Plan, is focused on the installation of new news crosswalks at the intersections of 3rd Street with Cleveland Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.

The construction, anticipated to take approximately two weeks, will see 3rd Street westbound traffic closing at Lincoln Avenue, with detours via Jefferson Avenue, and 3rd Street eastbound traffic closing at Cleveland Avenue, with detours via Railroad Avenue. Lincoln Avenue will be reduced to one lane during the construction.

Despite the road closures, businesses and sidewalks along 3rd Street will remain open, ensuring minimal disruption to the local community. Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The new crosswalk installations are funded by a $250,000 Colorado Department of Local Affairs Revitalizing Main Streets (RMS) grant, with 10% local funding. An additional donation of $250,000 for security measures at the traffic light intersections on 3rd Street and The Foundry was made by the Loveland Foundation.

This project is a crucial step in enhancing pedestrian safety and connectivity in the downtown area. Once completed, the new crosswalks will provide a direct and secure connection between downtown and the Foundry Parking Garage. Pedestrians are encouraged to use crosswalks at 1st Street and 4th Street until the new news are complete.

For questions or more information about the project, residents can contact the City's Public Works Department at 970-962-2524 or email [email protected]. Residents can also track the progress and learn more about the Heart Improvement Plan at lovgov.org/HIPStreets.

The Heart Improvement Plan, which has already brought revitalization efforts to 4th Street, aims to create a vibrant and safe environment for both residents and visitors in Loveland. The RMS program supports infrastructure projects across Colorado to encourage walking, biking, and community vitality.

As the construction progresses, let's look forward to a safer and more connected downtown Loveland.
