DHL Hikes Parcel Shipping Rates for Selected Shipments Worldwide

DHL raises costs for particular parcel delivery shipments

Listen up, folks! DHL is shaking things up as they announce a hike in prices for certain international and domestic parcel shipments, effective from July 1, 2025. Here's what you need to know! 📨

International Parcel Shipments (within EU and beyond)

EU Shipments

  • Online-franked parcels (up to 2 kg): 💰 €6.99 (previously €6.49, an increase of €0.50).
  • Online-franked parcels (up to 5 kg): 💰 €17.49.
  • In-shop/office-franked parcels (up to 5 kg): 💰 €20.49 (an increase of €1 compared to the previous online price).

Note that insurance for international parcels up to €50 is no more, and the maximum weight for international parcels has been capped at 30 kg [1]. Also, expect an increase in prices for cylindrical shipments and specific products due to higher handling costs [1].

Global & Non-EU

Prices for shipments outside the EU and to other world regions are adjusted moderately, with some weight categories remaining the same while others see slight increases [2][4]. Unfortunately, DHL is discontinuing its premium international service for private customers [1].

Domestic Parcel Shipments (Germany)

  • Pluspäckchen (with packaging box): 💰 €8.19 (previously €6.99, an increase of €1.20).
  • Roll-shaped shipments (e.g., posters): 💰 €3.99 (previously €1.99, an increase of €2).
  • Other domestic parcel services: Prices for standard parcels within Germany remain largely unchanged, except for the above-mentioned products [5].

Other Changes

Economy sets featuring discounted labels for "Päckchen XS" and "Paket bis 2 kg" are being introduced for EU shipments. However, larger discount levels (50 and 100 labels) are being phased out [1]. Moreover, coupon codes purchased before July 1, 2025, remain valid for three years [1].

These price hikes come in response to rising labor, transportation, and international delivery costs [1][2][3]. Stay tuned for more updates as we monitor the impact of these changes on parcel shipping! 🔔

The Commission, in response to increasing costs in the industry, finance, and business sectors, has also adopted a proposal for a directive aimed at protecting the environment from the adverse effects of rising transportation costs. These effects materialize through the increased emission of carbon dioxide from parcel shipping companies like DHL, which, as seen in their recent announcement, are hiking parcel shipping rates for selected shipments worldwide.
