Dairy farm establishing a new structure in Emmendingen, Hochburg breaking ground
The State Domain Hochburg near Emmendingen is undergoing another phase of construction, as the state-owned farm embarks on the building of a new modern dairy and young cattle barn. The state of Baden-Württemberg is investing approximately 8.8 million euros in this project.
The new barn, a three-part open-air structure in timber frame construction, is being built as part of the gradual restructuring of the state-owned farm. The Freiburg Office of Property and Construction is responsible for implementing the project, which has received a construction permit from the Ministry of Finance.
The new barn will feature a solid manure slab and storage, as well as a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system. The system, consisting of 902 modules on 1,802 square meters of area, will generate an output of 405 kWp. This solar energy solution is a testament to the farm's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
The farm's own source will provide the drinking water for the new barn, ensuring a consistent and clean water supply. The barn's design also prioritises ventilation and natural light, with an open roof structure that will optimise these aspects.
The State Domain Hochburg works closely with the Competence Center for Organic Farming Baden-Württemberg, further emphasising the farm's dedication to sustainable and forward-thinking farming practices.
This is not the first phase of renovation at the State Domain Hochburg. The builder of the new barn, as well as the modern dairy building and the young cattle stable, is the State Estate Hochburg itself. The construction of the new barn is part of the State Domain's operations.
The restructuring of the state-owned farm at the State Domain Hochburg is ongoing, with this new barn project being a significant step forward in modernising and improving the farm's facilities. The completion of this project is anticipated to enhance the farm's productivity and sustainability, contributing to the continued success of the State Domain Hochburg.
