Customs officers in Leutkirch, Allgäu, have seized a large quantity of unstamped cigarettes, shisha tobacco, e-cigarettes, and untaxed coffee products from a local food store. The Ulm Main Customs Office is investigating the merchant for potential criminal offenses related to suspected tax fraud.
The raid yielded a significant haul: 40,660 cigarettes, 80 kg of shisha tobacco, and e-cigarettes with 1.2 liters of liquids, all lacking tax stamps. Additionally, officers secured 115 kg of untaxed coffee and coffee products, a substantial sum of cash, and other evidence. The total tax loss is estimated at around €14,000.
The 60-year-old merchant has previously drawn attention for selling e-cigarettes to minors, which is prohibited. Despite this, no specific individual has been identified as under investigation for the suspected tax fraud offenses.
The seized items and evidence will aid the Ulm Main Customs Office in their ongoing investigation. The merchant's history of selling e-cigarettes to minors further highlights the need for thorough scrutiny of their business practices. The total tax loss of €14,000 underscores the seriousness of the suspected offenses.
