Customs Raid Destroys 151 Counterfeit, Non-Compliant Goods in Paderborn
Customs authorities in Paderborn have destroyed a large haul of counterfeit and non-compliant goods. The operation, conducted by the Bielefeld customs authority, seized 151 articles in total, including fake branded items and products lacking necessary safety markings.
The raid at the Paderborn customs office uncovered a range of illicit goods. These included counterfeit keychains, headphones, and charging cables mimicking popular brands. Additionally, children's toys, electric vehicles, sports equipment, and multimedia items were found to be non-compliant due to missing or incorrect CE marking, unidentified importers, or lack of German-language instructions.
In total, 26 proceedings were launched due to suspected infringement on commercial property rights, with 45 articles found to be infringing or unlicensed. Another 106 articles were seized due to safety and labeling issues.
The destroyed goods were part of a larger crackdown on counterfeit and non-compliant products. Customs authorities aim to prevent such items from entering the EU market, ensuring consumer safety and protecting intellectual property.
