Customs Raid at Nibirii Festival Finds Unregistered Workers, No Work Permit
On August 23, 2025, the Main Customs Office Aachen conducted inspections at the Nibirii Festival in Düren. The focus was on ensuring proper employee registration for social security in the building cleaning, security, and hospitality sectors. A total of 45 employees from 18 companies were interviewed.
The inspection revealed several irregularities. More than 10 employees were found not to have been registered, raising suspicions of criminal offenses involving social security contributions. Additionally, 24 employees were discovered to not have been registered on time. The evaluation of the data collected during the inspections is ongoing.
Among the findings, one foreign employee was found to be working without a work permit. The employer who hired this individual also came under scrutiny for violating employment regulations.
The inspections at the Nibirii Festival in Düren have highlighted significant issues with employee registration for social security. The ongoing evaluation of the data will help determine the full extent of the problem and any potential criminal offenses. The Main Customs Office Aachen continues to investigate the matter.
