City faces potential six-day disruption in regular suburban rail service at Harburg
The locomotive drivers' union GDL has announced plans for a six-day strike, commencing on Wednesday, 24th January, at 2 AM, and ending on Monday, 30th January, at 6 PM. This is the fourth strike by GDL members in the ongoing wage dispute.
The strike will primarily affect the Deutsche Bahn (DB) Cargo AG and related railway companies, with locomotive drivers participating in the industrial action. Other DB subsidiaries could also be impacted due to shared infrastructure and personnel overlaps.
During the morning rush hour, the S3 and S31 lines are expected to experience significant disruptions, with barely any operation due to the strike. The S-Bahn service may face significant delays and cancellations throughout the strike period.
However, the metronom service will not be affected by the strike, providing an alternative for commuters in some areas.
It's important to note that personnel in signal boxes may join the strike, causing deviations from the timetable. This could lead to further delays and cancellations.
The strike is scheduled to end on Monday, 30th January, at 6 PM, and normal service is expected to resume shortly after. Passengers are advised to check the DB website for the latest updates and plan their journeys accordingly.
