CII Marks 125 Years: New Logo Signals Expansion Beyond Traditional Business Boundaries
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), established in 1895, has evolved significantly over the years. It recently marked its 125th anniversary, reflecting its commitment to driving India's industrial growth and development. In 2020, CII introduced a new logo, symbolising its mission to expand beyond traditional business boundaries.
CII's journey began as the Engineering and Iron Trades Association (EITA) in 1895. It later transformed into the Indian Engineering Association (IEA) in 1912. In 1974, IEA merged with the Engineering Association of India (EAI) to form the Association of Indian Engineering Industry (AIEI), which eventually became the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 1992.
CII operates under four key pillars: policy advocacy, building competitiveness, expanding global entry, and fostering an equitable society. It has worked tirelessly to enhance India's global business presence through strategic dialogues, business missions, and connecting Indian businesses with international opportunities. CII also offers services through nine Centres of Excellence, focusing on areas like quality, leadership, sustainability, and technological transformation. In 2011, CII set up the CII Foundation to institutionalize its developmental and charitable activities. The head of the CII Institute for Logistics in Chennai in 2020 was Mr. Verma V.
CII's new logo in 2020, reflecting its mission for the future, signifies its commitment to expanding beyond traditional business boundaries. With a rich history dating back to 1895, CII continues to work towards creating an equitable society while driving India's industrial growth and global competitiveness.
