Building site under progression
The city of Stuttgart is preparing for a significant construction phase on Schlossplatz, the Castle Square, as part of the Stuttgart 21 project. This project involves replacing the Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) with a new underground through station and related infrastructure.
Starting from the 20th calendar week, the main access from the theater square to the Castle Square will be completely closed for approximately four months. Pedestrians can still access the Castle Square from the Rosental between the city hall and 'H&M'. A non-barrier-free access will also be provided during this period.
During this construction phase, Lange Street between Rosental and the Castle Square entrance will be the only access route. A driving lane will be marked out and signposted for the duration of the project to accommodate fire department and large vehicles. Construction companies will make every effort to avoid driving into Lange Street during peak business hours.
Residents of the Castle Square are asked to only use their access permission in urgent cases. For inquiries about the Castle Square construction, Thorsten Engelhardt can be contacted at 05231 977 105.
Numerous supply and disposal lines, including rainwater, sewage, and electrical installation, will be bundled and connected during the excavation at the 'Red Gate'.
The press release regarding the Castle Square construction is available on the city portal for more detailed information. We encourage everyone to stay informed and plan their routes accordingly during this construction phase.
