Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 captured as second most-watched non-English film on Netflix
Five Indian films graced the top 10 for most-watched non-English films on Netflix in the past week. Joining Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is Dulquer Salmaan's Lucky Baskhar, which has been consistently popular since its debut on Netflix in November 28. Vasan Bala's Jigra and Rajkumar Periasamy's Amaran have also been consistently hitting the charts, while Yo Yo Honey Singh Famous has also been making waves.
Lucky Baskhar
Dulquer Salmaan leads in Lucky Baskhar, a Telugu film directed by Venky Atluri. The film had a solid box office run before its Netflix premiere, and it's been a consistent hit on the platform ever since. This week, it secured 1.5 million views and 3.8 million watch-hours. Lucky Baskhar also stars Meenaakshi Chaudhary and Maganti Srinath.
The film battled its way to the third position in its fourth week on Netflix. It previously claimed the third, and fifth slots on the list. In its first two weeks on Netflix, the movie ranked second on the list of most-watched non-English films on Netflix.
Jigra
Headlined by Alia Bhatt, Jigra was a disappointing box office performer before finding its home on Netflix on December 6. Despite the initial setbacks, Vasan Bala's thriller has managed to secure a place on Netflix's weekly list for four weeks. It ranked seven for the fourth week, with 1.4 million views and 3.6 million watch-hours. In its previous stints on the platform, it claimed the fourth, seventh and third slots.
Amaran
Rajkumar Periasamy's Tamil film, Amaran, registered 1.3 million views in its fourth week on Netflix. For the week ending December 29, it ranked ninth on Netflix's list of most-watched non-English films. In earlier weeks, it claimed the sixth, fourth and sixth slots on the list.
The film is inspired by the real-life story of Indian soldier Major Mukund Varadarajan, and it was a hit at the box office before it made its way to Netflix on December 5. Amaran also stars Sai Pallavi.
Yo Yo Honey Singh Famous
The Netflix India original, Yo Yo Honey Singh Famous, ranked tenth on the list of most-watched non-English films on Netflix for the week ending December 29. The documentary film about Punjabi rapper and Bollywood singer-musician Honey Singh, directed by Mozez Singh, previously claimed the eighth slot on the list. This week, it gathered 1.1 million views and 1.4 million watch-hours.
Jigra's disappointing box office performance didn't deter from its Netflix success, as the Alia Bhatt-headed thriller has been consistently appearing on Netflix's weekly chart for four weeks. It recently ranked seventh for the fourth week, accumulating 1.4 million views and 3.6 million watch-hours.
Yo Yo Honey Singh Famous, the Netflix India original documenting the life of Punjabi rapper and Bollywood singer-musician Honey Singh, also continues to attract viewers. It ranked tenth on the global list of most-watched non-English films on Netflix for the week ending December 29, having previously held the eighth spot.
The Netflix global top 10 list includes Yo Yo Honey Singh's name as he remains popular worldwide, and Amaran, Rajkumar Periasamy's Tamil film, also makes an appearance on the list. Despite facing stiff competition, the film has consistently been catching the attention of Netflix subscribers.
