Authorities conduct vehicle inspections on trucks and buses
On Friday, August 8, the police department in Recklinghausen, in cooperation with customs from Münster and the traffic service of the Recklinghausen police, conducted vehicle checks on commercial passenger and ford transport. The joint effort was also supported by the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM), TÜV, and other network partners.
The checks, which were part of statewide control measures, focused on ensuring safety in commercial transport, with a particular focus on load securing, driving fitness, compliance with driving and rest times, and signs of tachograph manipulation.
A total of 201 vehicles were inspected, accompanied by customs and the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility. The content of the checks was transmitted by news aktuell from the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen.
The goal of the controls was to maintain road safety, and everyone involved brought their expertise to the table for this important occasion. Police President Friederike Zurhausen emphasized the importance of teamwork in this regard.
Unfortunately, seven vehicles were prohibited from continuing their journey due to violations. A total of 99 vehicles were identified with violations in the Recklinghausen district and Bottrop. The main violations were driving and rest time regulations, followed by load securing regulations.
In total, 15 vehicles had violations of driving and rest time regulations or social regulations, 11 vehicles had insufficiently secured loads, and 5 vehicles had technical defects.
Police President Friederike Zurhausen personally inspected a control in Bottrop. She reiterated that the police do not compromise on driving and rest times, tachograph manipulation, and ensure penalties for offenses related to these areas include fines and imprisonment.
