Airbus, Tata Set Up India's First Private Sector Helicopter FAL
Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) have joined forces to establish India's first private sector helicopter News Assembly Line in Vemagal, Karnataka. The facility, announced by Jürgen Westermeier, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, on October 1, 2025, in New Delhi, will produce the 'Made in India' H125 helicopters, with the first delivery expected in early 2027.
The H125 News, the second Airbus aircraft assembly plant in India after the C295 military aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, is set to boost India's aviation industry. It will cater to both civil and defence applications, with a military version, the H125M, offered with high levels of indigenised components and technologies.
The 'Made in India' H125 helicopter is poised to develop new civil and para-public market segments and meet the requirements of the Indian armed forces. Jürgen Westermeier expressed excitement about this new chapter in Airbus' relationship with Tata, while Sukaran Singh, CEO and MD of TASL, proudly welcomed Tata's entry into helicopter manufacturing.
The H125, produced at the new assembly line, will also be available for exports in the South Asian region. This collaboration between Airbus and Tata is expected to significantly contribute to India's aviation industry growth and self-reliance.
